The McGraw-Hill Construction Information Group Appoints Victoria Pao, Vice President, Marketing and Business Development

NEW YORK, N.Y., November 12, 2001 - The McGraw-Hill Companies’ (NYSE: MHP) Construction Information Group (CIG) has named Victoria Pao, vice president, Marketing and Business Development. CIG is the controlling entity of leading construction information brands such as F.W. Dodge, Sweets, Engineering News-Record, Architectural Record, Design Build and construction.com. Victoria will report directly to Norbert W. Young, Jr., president, The McGraw-Hill Construction Information Group.

Ms. Pao will work with CIG’s senior management team to enhance, further develop and implement CIG's marketing strategy. In addition, she will direct CIG's efforts to generate new sources of revenue in existing and new markets through strategic alliances, partnerships and acquisitions. Also in her new role, Ms. Pao will be responsible for the development of CIG's branding and communication strategies going forward.

Ms. Pao joined The McGraw-Hill Companies in 1997 through the Associate Development Program. While in the program she gained critical management experience in all three of the Corporation’s primary business segments, financial services, education and business information. During her 18 months in the program, she worked in the Strategic Planning department at Standard & Poor's Credit Market Services, served as part of the business team that launched McGraw-Hill Lifetime Learning and contributed to the development of Platts as an Information and Media Services' business.

Prior to joining The McGraw-Hill Companies, Ms. Pao held various management positions at R.H. Macy's and Citibank's Europe/North America Consumer Cards Group. Most recently, she was director of Business Development for The McGraw-Hill Companies' Information and Media Services segment.

Ms. Pao holds a bachelor's degree in East Asian Studies & Economics from Harvard University and a MBA from the Stern School of Business at New York University.
