(archrecord.construction.com - 11/04/03)

Foster
and Partners has been chosen to design a $2 billion expansion
of Beijings airport.
The firm will be working with a team
that includes Dutch airport planners NACO, engineering firm
ARUP and the Beijing Institute of Architectural Design and
Research.
The massive, modular structure will
include an aerodynamic roof that is evocative
of an airplane wing as well as traditional chinese characters.
The expansion of Beijing Capital International
Airport Terminal 3 will increase the airports capacity
from 27 million to 60 million passengers.
