Building upon the success of the 2004 Global Construction Summit in Beijing, McGraw-Hill Construction, the parent of well-known international magazines Engineering News-Record and Architectural Record, co-organized the 2006 Global Construction Summit with the China International Contractors Association again. The event drew more than 400 senior executives from leading real estate developers, contractors, design firms, financiers, and government agencies around the world. They shared best practices and brainstormed solutions to problems in the increasingly global $4.2-trillion construction marketplace. The exhibit booths were sold out long before the event.

As the third largest construction economy in the world, China's rising position in the construction industry attracts undivided attention from the world and called for Beijing as the host city. Endorsed by Ministry of Construction and Ministry of Commerce of China, Beijing Municipality, and supported by leading industry organizations in both U.S. and China, the 2006 Global Construction Summit was commented as informative and educational for industry professionals, and served as a major networking event in China for key decision makers.
