Kurt AmeringerKurt Ameringer is a Virtual Design & Construction Strategist focused on Architecture and technology. In his ten-year tenure at Graphisoft, he has helped numerous architectural firms deploy best practices for implementing Building Information Modeling (BIM) process and practice. Prior to joining Graphisoft, Kurt’s professional experience included design work in high-end residential design, historic restoration, assisted living, commercial design, education and recreational facility design. Kurt received a Master of Architecture degree from the University of Colorado, Denver. Kurt is an avid fly-fisherman and traditional martial artist.

Joann Gonchar, AIA, LEED APJoann Gonchar, AIA, LEED AP, is a senior editor at Architectural Record and a contributing editor to GreenSource magazine. She joined Record and GreenSource in 2006, after working for eight years at their sister McGraw-Hill publication, Engineering News-Record. Before starting her career as a journalist, Joann worked for several architecture firms and spent three years in Kobe, Japan, with the firm, Team Zoo, Atelier Iruka. She earned a Master of Architecture degree from the University of Pennsylvania and a Bachelor of Arts from Brown University. She is licensed to practice architecture in New York State.

Jay MartinJay is a project architect at The Miller Hull Partnership, a firm which has received more than a dozen awards related to sustainable design, including five AIA/COTE Top Ten Green Awards. He is one of the firm's leaders in the implementation of Building Information Modeling (BIM) software, and he serves as a catalyst for infusing performance-based design tools into the Miller Hull design process. Using BIM, Jay was an instrumental member of the design team for the LOTT Clean Water Alliance Regional Services Center in Olympia, WA, a project that is on target to achieve LEED Platinum certification. He is currently working on a net zero residence in Hood River, Oregon, a home that has utilized a wide range of BIM technologies. Jay holds a Master of Architecture from the University of Oregon and pursued undergraduate work at Harvard College, receiving a Bachelor of Arts in Environmental Science & Public Policy.

Carol Richard has been providing professional services since 1980 as a project designer and partner for numerous project types and sizes.  As founder of the firm, she brings a diversity of experience to the practice.  In addition to her architectural experience, she has led the firm in technological advances and sustainable building practices to better serve clients.  She is instrumental in providing team leadership and direction.

Jesse Thompson, AIA, LEED APJesse Thompson received his B.Arch from the University of Oregon in 1996. He is a Registered Architect (NCARB), serves on the Board of Directors of Maine AIA (The American Institute of Architects) is a LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) Accredited Professional and Passive House Consultant in Training. He is also Co-Chair of the PSA (Portland Society of Architects) Advocacy Committee, a community design advocacy group in Portland, Maine. He has practiced all phases of architecture and design while working at firms in Maine, Massachusetts and Vermont.  Jesse grew up in the Northeast Kingdom of Vermont, and lives in the Deering neighborhood of Portland with his family.

Jesse’s portfolio straddles the residential and commercial worlds, and has a deep knowledge of modern construction types and project planning. These projects have included designing intimate residential additions to managing a $40,000,000 mid-rise luxury condominium project.

Jesse is Kaplan Thompson's director of technical and digital practices, maintaining our leadership in energy efficient construction techniques, software adoption and digital construction management.

Recently he has served as co-designer for Habitat for Humanity Portland's first LEED certified low-energy home.

Jesse also holds the office record for the coldest day commuting on a bike to work. His mission at Kaplan Thompson Architects is to help create a bright green future for all of us.
