The Municipality of Chongqing, which spans over 80 000 km² and has a population of 31 million, is the largest and most populous city of China’s four provincial-level municipalities and the only one in the nation’s western region. Chongqing Municipality is becoming one of the hottest construction markets in China as regional development picks up, coupled with the relocation of Three Gorges Dam emigrants, the mega-city’s Urban-Rural Coordinated Reform, the movement of eastern industry bases to the west and the reconstruction involved after the Sichuan Earthquake.
Strategically located in the country’s hinterland along the Yangtze River, Chongqing is going all out to build itself into the financial hub and the manufacturing center of China’s west and the transportation gateway to the country’s vast west region. Meanwhile, the Municipality is putting tremendous effort to create a green and eco city - a “livable and forest city”.
As owners, developers, architects, engineers, contractors, building product manufacturers, technology firms, as well as insurance, financial, and legal professionals, what opportunities are there for you? How can you find a way to grasp and utilize these big opportunities while playing a constructive role in helping the city to make its dream come true?
In the 2009 Chongqing International Construction Summit, the organizers will work with Chongqing Municipal Government and multiple local industry associations to create a best-in-the-class platform for a roster of high-profile speakers and 400 industry leaders and professionals around China and the world to discuss the challenges and solutions.
Meanwhile, the 6th ENR/Construction Times Top 60 Chinese Contractors and Engineering Design Firms Awards Ceremony will be co-located with this conference in Chongqing. As a must-attend annual celebration, the ceremony is to attract senior executives from almost all the top players in China’s construction industry!
