Top Chinese Contractors & Design Firms
On November 27th, the 2008 ENR/CT “Top 60 Chinese Contractor/Chinese Design Firms” Awards Ceremony brought together some 150 executives from the ranked companies. China Construction Industry Association, China Exploration and Design Association, Shanghai Construction Trade Association, Shanghai Exploration and Design Association and the Chartered Institute of Building send senior delegates to the celebration.
A roster of speakers and panelists joined the pre-Ceremony seminar and discussed topics surrounding the theme of “Winning Challenging Economic Times, and shaping Tomorrow’s Leaders”. Program includes 2 major panel discussions. Panelists from 2 top contractors, China’s Export-Import Bank and a local consulting firm joined the panel of “Winning Challenging Economic Times – Strategies and Execution”, agreeing the current financial crisis was impacting Chinese contractors, especially their overseas business. On the second panel – Analysis on China’s Housing Market and the Implications to China’s Construction Industry, participating contractors and industry media expected the construction industry would benefit from the Government’s RMB 4 trillion stimulus package next year, e.g. infrastructure development, the low-income housing scheme, while admitting the market was sluggish.
This year also marks the 5th anniversary of the ENR/Construction Times China Ranking. Companies listed on the Top Lists for 5 consecutive years received special recognition on the stage from Xiaohua Li, editor-in-chief of Construction Times, and Minda Xu, VP - China, McGraw-Hill Construction.
