
The 2009 Green Building and Energy Efficiency International Conference
The annual Green Building & Energy Efficiency International Conference was co-hosted by McGraw-Hill Construction and Shanghai Green Building Council on August 18-20 at Pudong Shangri-la Hotel, Shanghai and attracted over 410 key decision makers and influencers among China’s growing base of green building practitioners.
As one of the most sought-after green events China, the conference was supported by the Science & Technology Promotion Center of the Ministry of Housing and Urban and Rural Development of China, the U.S. Department of Energy, the U.S. Green Building Council, the Science & Technology Committee of Shanghai Urban and Rural Construction & Transportation Commission, the Architectural Society of Shanghai, Shanghai Building Materials Industry Association, the Chartered Institute of Building (UK), the Hong Kong Chapter of American Institute of Architects and the Joint US-China Collaboration on Clean Energy. Known for its case study method and live panel discussions by world-renowned experts, the 2009 program was even more selective about the topics and speakers. Surrounding the them of Navigating the Changing Marketplace and Capitalizing on the Green Opportunities, the 1.5-day program featured case studies from selected regions and key-note addresses delivered by Wang Youwei, Chair of China Green Building Council, Dr. Benedict R. Schwegler, Vice President and Chief Scientist of Walter Disney Imagineering (WDI) Research & Development and Olivier Piccolin, Senior Vice President & Chief Commercial Officer of Philips Lighting Commercial Asia. In addition, a full-star roast of speakers and panelists will introduce cutting edge sustainable design concepts and practices.
Even more, U.S. Green Building Council, the creator of the internationally recognized LEED Rating System, joined MHC as the Organizing Partner. Together with the strong support from the Science & Technology Promotion Center, Ministry of Housing and Urban and Rural Development of China, the organizers invited the owners of China’s Green Buildings – Three-Star registered or LEED certified – to come to a special V.I.P.
