This new research reveals that nearly all contractors struggle with construction quality issues like errors, omissions and rework. However, contractors can improve their performance by investing in tangible, real strategies that improve collaboration and coordination on the jobsite, including policies to foster collaboration, tools that assist with trade contractor coordination and access to accurate, timely and complete data onsite. Some top findings include:

  • Improving Multi-Trade Coordination Can Improve Project Performance: 33% of contractors find that coordination issues are a root cause of the construction quality challenges they experience. Coordination issues lead to an average of 10% erosion in the annual company profit margin.
  • Conflict Resolution Is a Critical Skill: Companies interact with others on the jobsite an average of 17 times per day. Nearly half (46%) involve conflicts.
  • Field Professionals Need Better Tools to Drive Coordination: Only 11% of field personnel report always having access to the information they need about what and where to build on projects.
